I have always loved A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court and the current buzz is military space drama. I love those reveals where the heroes realize that they are here in earth exploring a world that was or one that's meant to be.
Bradbury's short story, "The Man" explores a technological elitism that fascinates me, how we assume superiority based on technological advancement. This is a major theme of Urghot. A squad of military hard-asses land on a planet inhabited by, surprisingly, other people. They find a fuedal society with little modernization. Insert magic into the equation and see egos flare and soldiers freak out.
This story will be about technology, our social perseptions of technology and it's role. That's what Twains novel is about but I will take a more luddite approach.
I have three labels I am using for the Blog - Log (captain's official report), Video Capture (recorded by a remote camera, and Meta (word count and notes)
